I've thought for a long time that Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk should be in jail. I still do.

My question has always been: Why don't we see the guilty sexual predators/child abusers/scumbags going to jail? I don't know how anyone can still be in the Catholic church filling their coffers to pay out settlements -- why aren't they demanding jail time????
Some people have a difficult time facing truth and reality. They prefer to live in a world of make believe, pretending that certain things aren't happening. But, we, as Catholics, cannot deny the existence of problems or act as if they are not real. The devil is real, life is real, people are real, pain is real, and poverty is real. The good news is that no matter how real our pain may be, or how big our problems may be, or how big our problems may seem, we can overcome all of them with the Word of God.
I notice in your post that you seem so obsessed with Catholicism. I believe that you are jealous of the fact, that it is truly the REAL, the ORIGINAL CHURCH, founded by Jesus himself. You seem to hate the Church whether or not there are human sinning priests in the ranks or not... I don't know about you, but I have no need, or no desire to read about, talk about, write about or even to rag on any other church. I am comfortable with my faith, my church, that I do not have to tear down anyone elses... yet, the you certainly have a huge attraction to the Catholic Church and to dump on it??? Could you secretly be afraid that it is truly the REAL, Church??? Do you not understand that we follow the direct teachings of Jesus? NOT a building, not a slick sales pitching pastor, not a worship team, not snake tamers, not people who claim to have the power to have the "Holy Spirit slay people," so they drop to the floor, not the big screen showplaces that they worship. Just the Word, that is what we follow. Pretty simple if you ask me.
To anonymous #2: I don't know what Doug's take is on Catholicism, but if the Catholic church is the one true church and the rest of us "believers" are out of the loop -- God help us! I sense a lot of anger and resentment in your comment. The only observation I've been able to make over the years (growing up in a predominanty Catholic area) is most of my friends who grew up Catholic couldn't quote one verse of scripture to me, but doggone it, they were in church on Sunday morning because not to be was considered a mortal sin.
I was led to Christ by a gal who grew up in a large Catholic family but didn't accept Christ until she went to a bible study with a group of believers who were probably considered "holy rollers". I bet she's going to a church, now, that has a worship team & a big screen in the front. So, tell me, has she fallen from grace???
The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27
Many people try to feel spiritual. God does not define out righteousness by our works, but by our faith in Jesus. We, Catholics, feel inner peace when we obey the voice of the Holy Spirit. We do read scripture, we do hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, we do have salvation throught Jesus Christ. We are believers in the Word. Our very eternity is determined upon that.
I have been to one of those big screen, feel good, mega-churches. The people were nice. The music was excellent and upbeat. I felt like I was at a concert. The "message" did make me feel pretty good. However, it was never really clear who we were worshiping. No scripture was "quoted" and I never heard the name Jesus mentioned, not even once. I won't be going back.
If quoting scripture determines how you decide if someone is a Christian then you really are "out of the loop." Do you not know that even Satan can "quote" scripture?
I think this started with why we don't see guilty priests going to jail for their crimes. I'm just wondering if my Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ are, in some way, holding the church accountable and demanding jail time for the guilty priests that committed these horrendous crimes?
