CINCINNATI, Ohio-- University of Cincinnati freshman basketball player Vincent Banks has been ruled academically ineligible for the 2004-05 season for failing to meet initial eligibility requirements, the university announced today. Banks is currently enrolled in classes at UC. Banks, a 6-2 guard from Atlanta, was named Mr. Basketball in the state of Georgia in 2003 after averaging 31.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game at South High School. Last season, Banks was the leading scorer (23.0 ppg) for high school power Laurinburg (N.C.) Prep while leading his team to a 29-4 record.
Ok, somebody explain this to me. Vincent Banks goes to high school, spends a year at prep school, enrolls at UC, and spends over four months going to class and practicing with the team. All this time, he was NEVER eligible to even enroll in college.
How does this happen? Who's at fault?
